Squidoo is another online content site (like hubpages) where you can earn money. It is not a get rich quick scheme, but it does build up a nice passive income over time. Last year I had to be away from home for a month and was lucky to get an hour a week internet time and yet my Squidoo income continued to trickle in and that month I made just under the thousand dollar mark - without doing anything!

There are a few tricks to making money on Squidoo, but there are plenty of Lensmasters (what you call people who produce content on Squidoo) who are willing to share their secrets including myself.

As with any online endeavor keyword research is important, now I must admit that I don't always do this and if you find a profitable niche it is still possible to make money without conquering keywords, but if you do your keyword research it will make things a lot easier!

The difference between Squidoo and Hubpages is when you get to the adsense part of the equation.

Squidoo works on a tier payment system for paying out it's ad revenue with you whereas Hubpages doesn't. You can use this to your advantage if you find a niche that gets a lot of traffic, but doesn't payout much in adsense.

Traffic is definately one factor that counts for lensrank so if you feel you can get 1,000s of views then make a lens even if the adsense earnings aren't very high.

As with any online activity backlinks are always a great idea and internal backlinks are easy to build on Squidoo and are counted by Google - win/win.

When it comes to interlinking lenses people don't always to this effectively, however and it can really help.

Every lens (what they call the content you produce on Squidoo) should be interlinked if you want to give it the best possible chance of doing well. There are five words that you should get to know with regards to interlinking & Squidoo and they are -

• discovery module

• lensography

If you use all of these methods then you're doing your best to get your lenses noticed.

Next you need to look at creating backlinks elsewhere and another great thing about Squidoo is that there are lots of Squidoo Directories that are available to link your lenses to.

After you've done all of that then you can build backlinks by bloging, writing articles and using some of the following sites -

A very big 'secret' to earning money on Squidoo is to stay focused, it's too easy to add lots of irrelevant things to your lens which dilutes the value of what your lens is supposed to be about. Decide what you're going to write about and keep your lens very tightly focused about just that.

An example is that I write on a number of different niches for example Christmas Ornaments and Posters, now if I've written a lens on Celebrity Christmas Ornaments I wouldn't add a lens on Disney Princess Posters onto this lens.
