The Book For Lego Enthusiasts

The Lego Book by Daniel Lipkowitz is one of Amazon’s bestselling books on Lego for a reason.   It’s a visual history of Lego presented in high quality, vibrant colors and with added ‘did you knows’ filled with some interesting facts.

It does seem to be a bit like a Lego catalogue at times, but children especially really don’t seem to mind that as they want to see the different Lego sets and can spend literally hours poured over this book.    I say this book, but it’s actually two books – the main book which focuses on the history of Lego initially before showcasing Lego themes and the Lego Minifigure book.

I love the Lego Minifigures, but this second book really doesn’t seem to have had as much care taken with it as the first one which I personally found disappointing, however it has certainly seemed to be a hit with all of the boys at my friend’s son’s birthday party!

The Lego Book does give you a great idea as to how Lego developed into being one of the top toys in the world, but it is not a definitive history.   If you want to see a complete line of Legos from the 1950s to the present day it’s not the book for you, however if you’re buying this book for a young Lego collector it’s ideal.

Daniel Lipkowitz’s The Lego Book concentrates on Lego sets from this millennium which means that when the child seems something they really like the look of, but don’t have, you have more chance of being able to add it to their next birthday/Christmas list!

The words I would use to describe both of the books included in this set are visually impressive.   The Lego Minifigures book, although not as impressive as the ‘main book’ is still full of some great photography.   I love looking at a Lego Minifigure photo blog and I will admit I’ve tried taking some great photos of Lego Minifigures and it’s not that easy to do!

If you’re looking for a gift for a child between 8 and 12 who loves their Lego then this Lego book is a great gift idea.   You’ll be surprised as to how quickly they memorize all of the facts in the book and if they’re anything like the children I’ve seen with the book it will not leave their sight for quite a while!

Hi :)

Lego is such a brilliant plaything. My brother and I loved it in the early sixties, and my kids loved it in the 80's and 90's.

Timeless!

That's a shame :(
